About
Personalized Therapy in California, in person in San Jose
My Background, from Engineer to Therapist
Where I’ve Been. . .Biomedical Engineer
I have a degree in Biomedical Engineering, with a Master’s level specialization in Human Factors and worked for about 15 years in the Silicon Valley Medical Device Start-up Industry. I still continue to consult within the Medical Device Industry as my schedule allows.

Balancing Personal / Professional Life
I imagine many of you can relate to loving your career AND struggling to strike the right work-life balance. To balance my career with parenting, I shifted from full time work to part-time work with more flexibility and more autonomy. I am forever grateful to have built a new career as a therapist that affords more flexibility to balance work, family, professional development, and personal growth. I still continue to consult and work within the Medical Device Industry as my schedule allows.

Holistic Counseling Psychology
I hold a masters in Holistic Counseling Psychology, specializing in transpersonal and somatic psychotherapies. This means that alongside studying attachment theory, basic human development, systems theory, and marriage and family therapy, I also studied mind-body psychology, Jungian therapy, dreamwork, dance movement therapy, integral psychology, and mindfulness based approaches to human wellness. Fun stuff!

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy / Contextual Behavioral Science- in-Depth Training
I have been training since 2011 in various forms of cognitive behavioral therapy, including: TEAM-CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Contextual Behavior Science, and Process Based Approaches to Evidence Based change. These include both the more traditional "2nd wave" and newer "3rd wave" forms of CBT.

Yoga and Meditation
I have been practicing yoga and mindfulness for 20+ years. I am a trained yoga instructor as well as a certified mindfulness instructor.

Psychotherapy and Coaching
I offer psychotherapy to individuals, couples, children, and families in California. As a therapist, I also do a lot of coaching in sessions, in the areas of communication, mindfulness, goal setting, productivity, and habit development. I also offer coaching-specific offerings and trainings from my coaching business (danielle@actionandinsightcoaching.com) as well as training and consultation for therapists.
Continuing Education / Lifelong Learning
